What Do We Need to Coil Wrap?

1. What Do We Need to Coil Wrap?

  1. Ohm reader
  2. RDA of your choice
  3. Wire for winding: Kanthal or Nikrl (We use 28ga Kanthal for this winding)
  4. Small blue 2mm screwdriver (included in most RDAs) or 2mm drill bit / 14ga
  5. Additional small screwdriver or allen wrench that matches the screws of your RDA.
  6. Small butane or propane torch.
  7. Tweezers (preferably ceramic tipped), thin nose pliers
  8. Small wire cutters or nail clippers
  9. Scissors
  10. Cotton Materials: Organic cotton
  11. E-liquid
  12. Some time and patience.

2. Before You Begin

If you do not have an ohm reader, please do not try to install your own coils or wind your coil. Now that you have all the materials you need, you will want to know how many windings your coil will need for the resistance you want before you start winding the coils. Various tools are available to do this.

The site we recommend for coil winding is www.steam-engine.org, wire size (28ga), coil winding type (single), target resistance (1.2 ohm), target inner coil diameter (2 mm), leg length (4 mm) it will tell you exactly how many turns you will make by setting other variables, such as calculators. For this example, the 1.2 ohm single coil will have to be wound up to 8 times.

Oxidizing (oxidation) of the wire

First you need to cut a piece of kanthal wire in your hand. Although 3 inches (about 8cm) are big enough, we recommend a bit more for beginners, so I recommend cutting a 4-5 inch (12-13 cm) wire. Connect the end of your wire with tweezers, pliers, forceps and so on. You will need to keep with. Lightly heat the kanthal wire with the propane torch until it is orange, then enter the bottom of the propane torch wire to get the full orange color. Give your wire a minute to cool, then hold the other end of the wire and repeat. Fry your wire well and let it cool down. Oxidation of the wire will make it less "flexible" and "easier to work".

 3. Coil winding

For this stage, you will need tweezers, a small blue screwdriver and a wire. Make sure that your wire rests on the screwdriver and does not slip and is close to the handle of the screwdriver. Pinch the end of the wire with your thumb and hold it on the screwdriver. You will then start winding your wire around the screwdriver until you reach our 8 turns winding goal. Do your best to keep the coils as close as possible without overlapping. It is important to try to wrap the wire tight to remove as much slack as possible, but side by side!

After 8 turns of winding, both ends of the wire should be in the same direction. This is because it provides convenience when seating the deck. Check the number of windings by counting. Once you have made sure your coils have completed 8 rounds, you can push the coil wire wrapped with your fingers into the screwdriver handle to fully compress and remove the slack there.

4. Installing the Coil

Slowly loosen the screws on the posts on the deck and place the wrapped wire, do not remove it completely, it may be difficult to re-insert the screws. Position the wrapped wire at the end of your screwdriver on the deck so that it is fully exposed. Pass both wire ends through the holes in the posts. Then tighten the screws here. However, not too tight. Over-tightened screws can cause the wire to cut and break. Then cut off any excess parts.

5. Measuring Ohm of Coil

Then take your atomizer and place it on the resistance reader. It should measure a value near your 1.2 ohm target resistance. However, it is quite normal for the coils to have a slight + or - variance in resistance up to 0.2 ohms. If your coil shows proper resistance within + or - 0.2ohm, you are ready to proceed to the next step. However, if your ohm reader does not read your coil or shows a resistance deviation of more than 0.2 ohms from your target resistance, there is a problem that needs to be corrected. Usually the problems are simple, so you can easily fix them. Provide the following checks

* Check to make sure the screws of your RDA are tight.

* Check the position of the coils to make sure they are not touching the deck or masts.

* Make sure your atomizer is fully screwed into the ohm reader.

If these steps have corrected your problem, you are ready to proceed to the next step. If these steps did not resolve your issue, try another coil. If you continue to have problems, there may be a problem with your atomizer or ohm reader.

6. Bobini Test Etme Coil Partlatma

7. Coil Cottoning (Electronic Cigarette Cotton Change)

When changing cotton in electronic cigarettes, we recommend using organic and high quality cotton for better yields and high aroma pleasure. For this purpose, we prefer organic cotton for its superior flavor and easy cottoning properties. You will need a piece of cotton big enough to fit fully into your bobbin, leaving about half an inch (1-1.5cm) in either direction. Be careful when cutting the cotton cut in the direction in which the fibers extend. Wetting the tips will help make it easy to shape. Push the cut cotton through the hole in the middle of your bobbin and pull it from the other side. If it doesn't pass easily, you may have cut your wick too big. On the other hand, if your roving slides loosely inside the bobbin, there is not enough material. Do not cut any parts that hang from the outside of the bobbin after you have fully passed your roving. Hang the roving from the edge of the coil to the deck, but do not allow it to overflow from the deck. Adjust the length to remain inside the deck. Thus, your cotton will absorb the e-liquid more efficiently.

8. Retest!

When installing and making your bobbins and cottons, they may be slightly bent or the cotton is slightly entangled. Recheck the resistance on the ohm meter. Be aware that your resistance may have changed to +/- 0.2ohms, but this is normal. If everything has been checked, you are ready to go to the next step. If there is a problem, you will have to recheck everything backwards until you find the problem.

9. Enjoy the Steam and Aroma!

You have successfully built a single 1.2ohm coil. Fill your favorite electronic cigarette liquid, set your mode to the appropriate temperature level and enjoy the steam because you deserve it.

A Note on Security

When installing or rebuilding your own windings, it is absolutely important to know the limits and conditions of use of your device, hardware and batteries. Never try resistances that exceed safe operating capacity. For more information and Battery Selection, see our article. Please be careful because the coils you attach to your device and ignite give high temperature. If you do not have an ohm reader, please do not try to rebuild your own coils!
